Beaches
Puerto Rico, the best beaches of the caribbean
The fact that we live in a 3500sq. miles Island give us the privilege of having miles upon miles of beautiful beaches. If you already have booked a getaway or planning to do so, here we present 32 pictures of beaches in Puerto Rico. Most of them are…
in the northwest part of the Island and for your maximum enjoyment they aren’t that crowded. Icacos is a cay probably no larger than 3 miles located a few miles off-shore Fajardo (north-east aprox 1.5 hours drive from San Juan). Even on a busy seasonal Saturday we were able to take some snapshots on the north side of the cay. As you can see on the picture below, it was all for us. Aguadilla (northwest) has the best and most popular beach in the northwest area. ”Crash Boat” is the most visited beach. There are a few near the old Ramey base but ”Crash” is among if not the best. It is usually crowded during weekends and a popular spot for photographers and advertising agencies for its crystal clear waters and colorful boats. Don’t worry; it is quite relaxing on weekdays. Click and enlarge the pictures below, you can see what we mean. The first picture is a glimpse of where you are about to get taken from a deck right on the road. Another not so crowded place to visit in Aguadilla is ”Wilderness” beach, see the photos below.
Jobos in Isabela is a great place but it is usually crowded as you can see in this picture. A few miles away (10 minutes driving) you might get some great surfing spots in ”Middles” beach, click here to see the latest surfing contest. If crowds are not a problem to you, Bienvenidos! While in Isabela if you are up for a horseback ride thru miles of beautiful sandy beaches, don’t forget to stop by Michelle and Craig’s Tropical Trail Rides.
Espinar Beach and Guaniquilla (these are basically our backyards) are GREAT beaches in the town of Aguada. The main beach (Guaniquilla) is undergoing a mayor face-lift and for the summer of 2005 hopefully it will be fully operational. Meanwhile you can enjoy any time of the week alone or with your family at Espinal beach. This one is very ”getting there friendly”, there are kiosks very close. Try their Octopus salad and shrimp tacos among others.
